Charmi was born in Mumbai, India and her family is of Punjabi origin. She was studying at Carmelite Convent English High School in Vasai.
She starred in her first film, Nee Thodu Kavali (released in March 2002), where she starred as Ghar’s wife. The film was a major failure, but it helped Charmy get noticed by the film industry in South India. His next film was Kapal Ajawatlai with Silambarasan, which also failed. During this time he acted in a Malayalam film directed by Vinay, called ‘Kattuchembambakam’. The film also exploded at the box office. Jayasuriya was the hero. She then acted in a few more Tamil films but she did a box office blast.
His re-entry in Telugu films was with Sri Anjaneem, directed by director Krishna Vamsi. It was also an unsuccessful attempt. He was followed by another failure with Chanti, who was paired with Ravi Teja. He finally took a great break with Gauri in Telugu in which he teamed up with Sumant. He did not have to look back later. Maas’s spectacular success with Nagarjuna strengthened his position in Tollywood.
Charmi’s most indistinguishable and critically acclaimed film of all time is Anukunda Oka Roju. It was a hero-oriented thriller and he played the lead role in it. His performance in the film was critically acclaimed.
His recent film, Poramani, was a total failure, but his performance was praised. Although he did not learn Indian classical dance, his audience Bharat Natyam and Kuchipudi were appreciated by the public in the film.
Charmi’s last film Chinnodu has been declared safe at the box office. His next film Rakhi (with NTR) was declared HIT and the role of Charmi was praised. Regarding her friends, she says her best friends in the industry are Bhumi Chawla and Genelia D’Souza and, outside the industry, she says she is close to her childhood friends Sridhar Tegla and Anuradha Yadla.
