FAQ

Common Questions

Find answers about extracting text, voice quality, and file exports in our PDF-to-audio tool.

How does the PDF-to-audio conversion work?
It parses the text content layer inside the PDF and uses the browser's Web Speech API (SpeechSynthesis) to read the extracted text aloud.
Can I convert scanned image PDFs to audio?
Since this runs client-side, the PDF must have an extractable text layer. Scanned documents without text layers must first be processed with our OCR tool.
Is it possible to download the audio file?
Yes, the tool records the speech synthesizer output stream to compile a downloadable audio file (such as WAV or MP3 format) directly on your device.
Are there language limitations?
The tool can utilize any language voice profile installed on your operating system (Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android).
Are my text-based PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Text extraction, voice synthesis, and audio file recording occur completely client-side. Your file contents never leave your computer.
